In theory the maximum SPL attainable on earth is 194db. So if they wrote 200db on your ticket they would be disproving a little scientific theory as well.

I'd tell them to stick there head in a car thats burping @ 150db and then recognise that 1 3db increase represents a doubling and then think about how many 3db doublings it is from 150 to 200db.

Out of curiosity what does your system play on a termlab meter?

At first I thought this was exhaust noise (mine being 155 decibels at full flight) but my audio is only 115db

um, if u stand behind your car do your eardrums blow? thats a good test cos the average male will blow ear drums @ 1 meter from source @ 144 dB :P so i pitting your car at about 120 ish, and also a space rocket launch is 143 dB :P think you can top that?

World Record is 176.6dB ... with Pioneer equipment as well .... surprisingly.

Pioneer Electronics has again proved its status as a world leader.

In the American Spring Break Nationals competition held early this month, the Pioneer USA team broke SPL world records with the TS-W5000SPL subwoofer and new PRS-D5000SPL amplifier.
The Pioneer Pro Series SPL amplifiers made a dramatic debut by setting four world records and achieving three "Highest Ever" awards.

As the newest member of Team Pioneer, Steve Cook was awarded the loudest overall competitor at last year's finals. He has replaced his amplifiers with 16 PRS-D5000SPLs, and will soon replace his woofers as well. Cook bettered his result from last year's finals, winning the Extreme 3-4 class and setting a new world record with 175.0dB. In the IASCA dB League (IdBL), Cook also won his class and set a new world record with 177.1dB.

A legend in the DB Drag Racing circuit, Scott Owens now has 52 of the new PRS-D5000SPL amplifiers and 13 TS-W5000SPL woofers in his record smashing truck, securing unprecedented results. In dB Drag, Owens won the top level Extreme 5+ class with 176.6dB - beating the second place finisher by almost 7dB. He also set a new world record with 175.8dB. In MECA, Owens won first place in the X3 class, was the loudest car of the competition, and also set the "Highest Ever Recorded in MECA" with 176.2dB.

In IdBL Owens achieved 179.0dB. Head judge Moe Sabourin said, "That was the highest score EVER recorded in IdBL, and actually the highest score EVER recorded on an Audio Control system!"

Owens backed that up with a 178.8dB to set the new IdBL world record and take the win in Ultimate 4 class.

Owens and Cook were acclaimed as the two loudest cars at the show.

Michael van Raay, marketing manager of car electronics at Pioneer Electronics Australia said that the establishment of the world records using Pioneer’s pro series amplifiers and subwoofers consolidated Pioneer’s dominance in these hardware categories.

"Pioneer prides itself on its research and development. These results are yet another example of our ability to produce high quality products, with technological advancements that flow right throughout the Pioneer range," he said.
