Hi all..
Here's my issue. If I cruise at 60km/h my revs are at 1500rpm on a flat road. If I cruise at 70km/h on the same flat road my revs are 1250rpm. If I cruise at 80km/h on the same flat road my revs are 1500rpm. Note: same road, each run within 5mins of eachother. Now.. just wondering if that means I can assume I'm in 3rd gear at 60km/h on a flat road and in 4th if I cruise to 70km/h? |

Sonds logical to me... the police pack and i think XR ECU's were programmed to stay in 3rd gear until 65km/h, only after that can they go into overdrive.

Fourth gear, but not locked up at 60 i'd say?

Do you know when it does lock up? im positive that my tranny flares right up until about freeeway speed, and if he's barely giving the car anything (being a flat road) it shouldn't do it anywy? Ultimately i guess it's not too hard to tell when the car is changing gears, so you're probably right

I'm not sure what you mean? I know if I'm at 60 and I move the shifter into "3".. it doesnt change, but if I do the same at 80, if shifts down. |

Thought so.. now here's my real issue. Is there any real way to make it be in 4th before 70km/h.. sometimes breaking the speed limit by 10km/h just isn't cool

you already knew the answer to your question.

of course it is in third then, your shifter is obviously fine (cause it downshifts at higher speed) and also, think about it this way if at 80 km/h you are cruising at 1250 rpm as you said, and 100 is 1500 rpm, then 60 km/h would have to be about 1000 rpm in 4th. the engine would be hardly even turning over!! |
