I've always preferred the sub facing toward the rear. I'm in it for the SQ, in fact I have the sub enclosure sitting right in the middle, as far to the rear bumper as she'll go. And I've always found that nice and warm, punchy and rich sounding. Turn it around and she loses something, in my setup I would say more that a couple of db points.
