Hello guys,
I just want to confirm engine build numbers. How do I tell an EL block from the rest? The crank has 94 DA on it, these numbers are also on the block followed by other numbers. I'm buying the whole block mainly for the crank, apparently EL cranks are great. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I would think that the EL's have a 96DA part number on them, as they are a different crank to the EF's.
Be careful, some of the EL's (Hybrid engines) have a crank with a WR2 part number on it. The only external differences would be the dizzy (EL) / syncroniser (EF) think, with the extra sensors. And the balancer on an EF will have a set of teeth on the back of it, whereas the EL has nothing. |

EF's had a 12 counter-weight crank.
EL's have an 8 counter-weight crank. In theory makes the EL drivetrain a little lighter and a little less harsh, which I think it does. |
