Hi there guys, i have a slight problem. rather annoying really. i have a squeal that sounds like its coming from the right-rear wheel. When i reverse and go to take off theres a high pitch squeal. I am thinkin wheel bearings or brake pads. Need some input on how to fix it. I drive a manual Ef gli, stock as they come.

Check your brake pads, also check to see if you have a stone, lodged in the caliper anywhere.

Mine started to make a noise like yours does. It turned out to be a stone in the caliper. Happened 1/2 way back home from Brissy. Got rid of stone, all fixed!

chances are its your brake pads. there this little metal doo-dah thats sits about 1-1.5mm next to the brake pad and when the disc rotates against this it squeals. its basically a warning for you to get your brakes checked out. just take the wheels of and have a look

Its more likely to be a build up of brake dust in the inner of the rotor from the handbrake pads. Just remove the wheel, caliper and rotor then flush out the dust with water or use a tin of Brake cleaner. There is also an inspection hole on the rotor (plugged with grommet) to check the handbrake pad clearance.
