95LE. I believe 93LE was the earlier equivalent. 97LE is a V8 transmission.

Id be suprised if BTR didnt update the processes/components used in the boxes as the engines became more torquey over the years. Nothing to write home about tho.

While we're on the subject, what diferences are there between the 95LE and the 97LE ?

Why does the sluggish V8 deserve its own box ?

Brad i think main difference is in input shaft. Have heard slightly larger internals were fitted - but lets face it, ol' faithful isnt exactly going to be snapping I6 boxes left, right and centre....

Maybe some differences in the electronics?? what with the TCM etc. I know for a fact the TCM has different resistance requirements when fitting a shift-kit.

Nah XR6 has same tranny as GLi etc. (minus the fishnet stockings  ), which is 95LE in EF XR6 AFAIK.

Prolly a good thing.... i've never looked into it but im sure the V8 ones cost a lot more.... like everything else.

True true would hate to think what a new 97LE garbox would cost!! The 95LE can take a fair bit of punsihment ne way, people install shift kits and they still go hard so they cant be all that bad.

I'd say different is minimal. The e series v8 didnt make much more power so i doubt they overengineered the boxes.

Its be nice to hear an expert's opinion tho......
