Hey guys i plan to do up my motor spare motor while i keep my cheapo motor running the motor is a
250 X-Flow Alloy head EFI If you could suggest something and why would be great so i understand why and where ur comming from Performance shop suggested to me was get molly pushrods because they are stronger and wont bend like stock ones also they suggested was Port behind the valve and out it will give nice and lots of HP (sorry can't remember what he called it) Also i got a cam a while ago off a mate for free brand new it a tighe cam 140HT http://tighecams.com.au/profiles2/fordcrosshyd.htm Will the cam work with EFI and do i have to machine crank for it? anyone know the good and band parts about the cam Mate also gave me 20 thou acl pistons and molly rings are these worth using? The performance shop suggested that he can move shrink the ports slightly and get me a grathite head gasket that will me it run smoother Lifters? roller rockers? bearing? Injectors? fuel pump? Oil Pump? Sump? Valves? Valve Springs? Id like to see what u suggest Thx

no way in hell will an EFI XF live with a tighe 140HT..... would be fun with a 2bbl holley tho lol
the early falcon EFI's dont like much more than a mild cam

basically follow the same principles of the EF/EL OHC 4 litres, very similar motors. Let it breath, run without hassles.
new pistons/rings block machines up decent exhaust and extractors good intake- non restrictive good cam maybe some headwork, and yeah good pushrods

is turbo not an option?
what power figures are you looking at? cause it might be worth while to throw out the XF efi motor and put something a little newer in. or go an 8

If your only desire is to go fast, have a good look at turbo-charging because all the stuff you listed will be very exey, and turbos would come in at around the same, I would think...
Then if you dont go for forced induction, why not look at slotting that 4.1 into a cortina, rather than a falcon. It would go much harder... |

I suppose if you want to do cam etc and/or supercharge, keeping with efi, an aftermarket ecu might be on the books to run it all -then you could run whatever cam you want and it should be fine as long as u can find someone to tune it (or learn how yourself)

ow ok so i can put that 140HT cam in then use something like Wolf 3D Ver 4 and tune it and i wouldn't have a problem

the early falcon EFI's dont like much more than a mild cam So he ment only have problems if stays running on stock ECU but would be k on aftermarket

Biggest problem with XF EFI was the vane meter. It was hard to get it running smooth even on a stock motor, once you put even the mildest of cams in you will get a bad idle. Also very restrictive so any mods you do will have little effect unless its replaced. The EEC in the XF had no long term adaptive learing as the was no ego sensor.
Ive played with XF EFI's for years, in the end I went straight gas with GasReasearch mixer on the EFI intake and removed the vane meter and put a normal dizzy regraphed for gas. With the mild cam, 10.1 comp and extractors it had alot more power. I always wanted to put a newer 4.0 with 4spd in it as with XG mounts it would be an easy fit but back then 10+ years ago they were too expensive. Andy |

K K K
But if i was to put a aftermarket ECU in that come with sensors would that solve my problem also would that solve the EEC learning problem SOrry for the hassel just all i know about cars is sump, crank, conrods, piston, piston rings, push rods, valves, valve springs, roller rockers and rocker cover LOL basicly allive learned just haven't learned the techinal side to it all like sizes and materials but i will one day
