there's 2 different types, one has a flat surface where it contacts the head and uses plastic plugs to fill the cam cutouts, and the other has the cam cutout plugs cast into the cover

ok mine seems very thin... made out of grey rubber and is one single loop of rubber with the shape of the head... no extra bits. has small indentations as lines throughout the 'cable'...

its from an ED if that helps... are these any good or should i get my 60$ back

I'd stick with the rubber one, cork gaskets are s**t! You just need to have a look at the front of you rocker cover and see that the shape of the cover follows the cutout for the cam. Then check that the rubber gasket has the same shape in it at both ends.

Earlier models EA, EB and i think ED had a flat gasket and used a 'D' rubber to fill the cam cutout.

I usually use a small amount of silastic to hold the gasket in place when installing it.

Hmm .. ED & EF's had different times of rocker cover gaskets & rocker covers. ... the EF rocker covers are different and have the half moon in the rocker cover itsself, where the ED ones are more like the EA/EB rocker covers, so you need the half moon in the gasket .

I just replaced my rocker cover gasket today, ED for a ED one was $28 from repco .

Only ONCE have I ever seen a ED with the half moons on the rocker cover, hence needing the EF rocker cover gasket .

But you can't put a ED rocker cover onto a EF head .. and vice versa.
