Just wondering if anyone has any experience running LPG on a late 302w.
I'd like to go dual fuel, but if its going to cost performance and $$ I'm happy to sacrifice Petrol. If I was to run straight gas, would I be able to remove the MAF ? My 4L's which have been on LPG run fine without the MAP sensor.. So i'd guess its doable. Of course, if its dual fuel the MAF would probably need to remain for petrol operation. What are the options? GRA, Impco?

Don't take my word for it but my guess is its easilly doable. If you were to run the GRA you would need to fabricate an adapter that enables you to fit twin carbs on the stock inlet manifold. That's if you intend on going twin carb? Or you could use a big single carb. Theres a ford cusomline with a magna roof running a Single GRA carb 302 windsor. As for the impco I've seen a VX SS taxi running a dual fuel impco setup so anything is possible. The Gas Man in Alexadria did the conversion work on the SS so he's your best bet.

I had gas on my EFXR8 worked just fine.
Not sure if you need the MAF or not, when I pulled mine off I noticed that it was wired into the o2 sensors though.

how about this?
I've got a landirenzo system in my eb 5.0L and it runs fine. the motor used to ping on regular unleaded, premium & even optimax. this stopped when i started running on lpg and bp ultimate. it's a dual fuel setup & it uses a small computer (injector emulator) to read the O2 sensor and run the ideal fuel ratio at all times. cost, fitted and tuned, was $2150 back in june. it injects the gas vapour into the intake pipe just before the throttle body. the motor is still stock & power isn't much different between the fuels. when on petrol it uses the eeciv & all stock sensors (inc maf) & runs just like stock. for a diagram & more detailed onfo on how this works check out this link http://www.landi.it/eng/prodotti/scheda ... gpl03.html

Thanks for the insight.
I've got quite a bit of experience with the 4L gas options, the V8's are just a bit different. Cheers

Brad,
the 225 mixer does the LPG on a v8 quite well so ive been told by Joe and a few other guys.. might be the goer to go straight fuel. unless you intend which you most probably do to do engine work then maybe gra or whats mentioned .. |

only problem with lpg is airflow as the mixer has quite a small hole so you will loose kilowatts,to over come this you can now have gas fuel injected so you still get same flow as before but this is quite expensive, you do get better fuel economey with this setup or i believe u can get twin throttle bodies and use two mixers for better air flow

I'm quite aware of the pro's and con's of LPG. This will be my 3rd LPG powered engine. We saw a 5RWKW difference between petrol and LPG on my 4L. Its well worth it for the $45/100L saving

Brad, when you get a chance come in the work shop & have a look at the XY I've got in the with straight gas IMO better than GRA, Impco & OHG also s**t loads more torque & I can set it up for either open or close loop, some mods have to be carried out to run straight gas for a V8 but it will be worth it.

The 225 is no good for "performance" applications - I pulled my 225 off and put a 425 on it - power difference is very noticable. On dual fuel you could tell with the 225 when you were on gas - it would run out of puff - the 425 just keeps on pulling. You want a 225 I have one sitting in my shed with the cut down intake and adaptor rings. Shane
