it was running a little rough it felt like it was missing somwhere and it was blowing soot so i pulled out the plugs to clean them but at least it still started and ran.
i put the cleaned plugs back in and started it - no problem untill i took it for a drive it didnt want to go anywhere, i barly managed to get it back!. it only started once again this time running so rough (backfiring) it wouldent run unless you had you foot firmly planted. i tried replacing the leads and putting more juice in it and the distributer is less than a year old, it doesnt seem to wanna run anymore anyhelp will be great!

pleanty of spark at coil (tested), ive replaced the dizzy cap and the rotor button now im getting a very weak spark, the fuel pump is working as it should, and the battery has enough charge to wind it over quickly.
where getting close people

Did the TFI module get replaced with the dizzy? starting to sound like that could be either buggered or have a bad contact. other thing that would do it is the earth lead between the battery and the engine / body is loose or broken.

The valve on the EL comes out easy as, but no so with the EA ive found it does just pull out arfter al, its just that the ones from the EA's have a lip at the bottom that prevents them from pullin straight out with a bit of force. how i evetualy got mine out was to get a set of vice grips and clamp them onto the PCV valve Tightly, then get a screw driver underneath the front of the vice grips and while you are holding the back of them (vice grips) rock and lift out the PCV. for such a small part on the engine its a pain in the a*** to remove, but it does pull out.

That is exactly the same thing that happened to my EL after I washed the engine down and I was also stooged. I had a spark at the coil but not at the plugs. Thinking leads or dizzy, it took me awhile to start thinking that it might be the coil. Hope that makes you feel better.
