Over the last couple of months, well after the head was reco'd i've suffered from a lack of power from about 3750rpm up, while it was in having the head done i had a wade 1004 cam put in. Now it's aways their but seems to be a lot more noticable when the cars been drivin for 20-30mins.
Last night on my way home i stuck the boot in to it and it 3500 no prob's soon as it got past that all i was getting was a coff and splutter and no power. Any help would be very much apprecated Sean. |

I'd say spark problem (bad leads?), or maybe it's running way too rich.

Sounds more like too lean to me.
Rich boggs the engine down, lean makes it cough and splutter. Especially since it is more noticable when the engine's warm. When it's cold, it's running off fixed fuel maps and is running richer due to the cold start mode. When the engine is warm it's running a lot leaner. How are the injectors? Who put the cam in? Was the cam set up properly or did someone set it up with 20 degrees retarded valve timing? I don't mean to make it sound bad, but this sort of thing happens when injector drivers keel over and kick the bucket. It might be ECU related. |

this is the second ecu went from a standred to a xr6
so i'm hoping it's not the ecu, it was doing it before the swap as well. in regards to who did the install it was dandy rebore's (not going back their and warn all about them DO NOT USE) sorry had a few other problems with their hand work. i was starting to think it's a spark problem or a fueling issue when it was dynoed i was told the a/f ratio was up s**t creek so to say but the cam is ment to well/better then this with the standered ecu i've got no idea no how the cam was set up, ran fine for a couple of day then went bad. i'll pull the plugs out next weekend and have a look, the leads are only 4-5months old. |

Check the timing on the car. Had this problem before and timing was out 2 teeth. might be worth looking at

Sounds like it could be injectors.
It sounds like you've already spent a fair bit on the car. If you haven't replaced the injectors already, I'd be looking at that. Spark, unless it's well off, won't send the A/F ratios off all that much. Certainly not enough to cut all power above 3000rpm. To do that you'd have to have the spark about 20 or 30 degrees BTDC One way to check if it's retarded timing is to check teh exhaust gas temp if you can. A retarded spark will send the exhaust gas temp through the roof. |

ok just heard back from the mech thats got my car he
s say's every thing seams fine but it could be a cam timing issue, but wouldn't that make the problem constant? not after it warms up?. So i guess the only fix (if it's that) is the vernier gear?. i might pull the rocker cover off on saturday and check the cam make sure it's not been eaten. |

o2 sensor could have something to do with it. they aren't that cheap as while walking through the wrecking yard they can easily be pocketed hehehe. Well, they only pay about $50 per car and then flog parts for $120... bastard U-Pull-It
