I am interested to hear for anyone who has used one of these units?
What does a ratchet shift feel like? Does it shift easy or do you have to put a bit of effort into it? Basically I'm asking; Would a b & m mega shifter be a pain in the a** to use in a full manual valve body c4 on a daily basis? And what's a good price for a brand new one? Thanks. |

The Megashifter is ok for the street because it operates like a normal shifter in the P,R,N,D gates. Its when you're in D that the ratchet comes into effect and you can ratchet up and down through your forward gears (and neutral)
I've had a RHD Megashifter and the coppers that saw it never gave it a second look. The pic you've shown there is a LHD one, they may pick on that because you can't see the gear indicator.

yeah, the gear indicator is a bit of a grey area, I know of some people that have had their cars licenced with a lhd shifter in them.
it takes bugger all effort to use the shifter, i guess the most annoying part initially is that you dont release the gate before you put it into netural and want to go to reverse, you need to go back to drive first, then up into reverse, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be right. (this is to stop you from going 1,2,3,N,R on the drag strip, ie it wont go past neutral) |
