the best place for a pod filter is inside the standard filter box... as it will shield the pod from power robbing heat in your engine bay... just add a custom/homejob 3 inch cold air intake tube + xr snorkel to at least help the pod filter recieve the coldest air possible within the standard filter box..
ive done exactly this.. works a treat.. altough i used a flat panel k&n air filter.. |

Check legal requirements in QLD. I believe that most states require the pod to be enclosed and the easiest way to do this is in the box. If you are going to put it in the box you will need to get more air into it with a sequential scoop or some other extra air intake, otherwise you wont see anything much in the way of power gains. I believe alot of people opt for a 3" hole in the bottom of the air box and tubing to the front bumper area (I would go for the sequential scoop as my personal preferenceif I was going for a pod). If you are not worried about leagalities then you are right, behind the head light is the best place for it although I wouldn't use aluminium. Thier is a special plastic for heat shielding, can't remember what it is called though.

if you dont have a ceramic coating on your extractors you will be sucking in hotter air , then that hot air generated from your pod int he box.
housing a pod in a box is proven , look at the gt its basicly in a cacoon. |

Pod in the box is, apparently, the go. JMM reccomend this (and they should know, they've done plenty of testing) so if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me....
