Found this on the web.
Relocate IAT Sensor - This is a very simple modification that will work on a great deal of fuel injected vehicles. The IAT sensor (,Intake Air Temperature 0/00) tells the computer how hot or cold the incoming air is. The computer will then adjust the amount of fuel being injected, as well as make minor adjustments to timing based on that reading. The problem is that in many vehicles, the IAT sensor is located in the intake manifold, near the cylinder head. Therefore the air that the IAT sensor, reads 0/00 is much hotter than the air, say, in the intake arm. The idea with this mod, is to relocate the sensor to the intake arm. Use JB Weld or similar to patch up the old port for the sensor. This will cause the computer to believe that incoming air is slightly cooler, causing it to inject more fuel and advance the timing a tad. Anyone tried this, I have seen it done before on Nissan ET pulsar turbo's. |

So you want to trick the computer into thinking the air is cooler than what it actually is, causing it to inject more fuel into an already overly rich engine, and at the same time advance timing, which will more than likely be retarded by the knock sensor because its making the engine run a little crappy....

alot of cars have their IAT sensor in the intake arm, ford's were just behind the 8 ball. VL's incorporate the air mass flow sensor next to the airbox for this reading.
Guys doing cheap turbo conversions would probably already be doing this mod, to make the car run a bit better under boost........................ |

It doesnt matter where the temp sensor is, as long as the computer is tuned appropriately it makes 0 difference. In fact the closer to the head you get without running into heat soak issues the more accurate the temp reading will be.
Moving the IAT in a ford to add more fuel has to rank amongst the worst mods you could possibly do.

most falcons probably run rich to begin with, so that would just be overkill.

Yep tried adjusting the IAT and it doesn't work. The ECU is programmed quite well in this regard moving or changing the IAT values did sweet BA on my AU
