thanks....yeh a few things about this car dont add up
theres no turbo badge on the boot. I know its minor but I asked the dealer what happened and he recons he took it off. I reckon the car has been in an accident and they have just boot an xr6 boot on it. either that or the car wasnt a turbo from factory...though it would be an expensive excercise to put a turbo into a normal xr6...

What engine code is on the plate?
normal 6 will be H. there is two listings for the turbo P and Y. the P is listed as HP can you see any other evidence of accident repairs? i know a couple of people who have taken the TURBO badges off for a stealth look (i dont get it though)

I am going back to see the car on the weekend...i'll check the engine code...might have a look around the rear for some more accident evidence...
I understand that the owner would take off the badge but the dealer said he did...its not like it would fall off....you can have the car 100 yrs and the badge wont come off.. just seems odd

I take it the car is second hand? Not sure about NSW rules but in Vic P platers can't drive xr6 turbos as its well over our power/weight ratio, classing it as a high powered vehicle. Hence kids with big loans or rich parents driving XR6T's remove the turbo badge and think they won't be caught out. Could be a plausible explanation in this case as I don't think the dealer would rush out to tell you the last owner was 18.

the cars $29k, 43,000 kms
good point re the turbo badge...im going to have a look at it again tomorrow and if possible will check out the rear of the car to see if there is any evidence of damage....if not i might make an offer be good if the government setup a system where people can track the history in regards to rego and insurance claims by VIN number...so much easier for people buying a second hand car

29k seems slightly cheap although not excessively so I suppose.. you taken the car for a test drive (a decent half hour drive, not just around the block)? How did it feel? You can also call the RTA or whatever you have there to check the car's history.
