ok, so tonight on my way home from the city, travelling down the m4 at an appropriate speed, a mr toyota supra rocks up weaving over the highway doing speeds marginally more than myself.
at this point, we spotted each other, and in a controlled experiment on private roads we both gave it. Now, the toyota powerful 6 is pushing a much lighter car than an au ghia. The mighty ford not only kept pace, but continually pushed ahead to the speed limiter!!! i had a good 3 lengths on him. so there you have it... proof that the ford i6 rules all. Please feel free posting your surprising runs here, itd be interesting to see what cars can do what with what mods... By the way, the only mods my car has is a mandrel intake + pod, and a fully sick exhaust (heavily 4wd-ing damaged -crushed cat, 1st and 2nd mufflers)

not a bad effort from the big ghia! you'd know it if the supra was turbo, as you wouldnt have kept pace! good work though!

I'm sorry, but NA Supras are absolutely nothing! My wagon beats them and my wagon is far from being quick! It's probably on par with a stock Falcon, the performance mods that I've done are probably just compensating for the other mods that I've done adding to the vehicles weight!
I've munched a few NA I6 Supras from standstill. There not impressive at all! |

ahhh i wouldn't say that, whack a turbo on a 6 cylinder engine and you've got a recepie for some fun. Also being a common international car they'd be heaps of easy bolt on mods and that avaliable. |

compared "reaction times" at a set of lights a few weeks back with some wank in what looked like a late 90's supra.
dunno how but kept up with him in 1st, then powered away in the other gears. mine was auto and n/a, his was manual and turbo equipped, i remember hearing the pshhhh from his fully sick bov. again, you gotta love the i6 |

As a rule the supra should beat a nonvct I6, as it is lighter with a similar power output. the fact that you beat one from a rolling start at like 100 is most certainly nothing to be proud of, it's expected when the falcon has more top end power considering it's 4L capacity as compared to the 3.0L
