I will soon be in the market for a new sub and amp

Sub ive pretty much set my mind on the IDMAXD4, and was looking at gettin a Rockford Fosgate amp to power the beast.

Heres the decision

there are two amps im looking at:

1000Wrms @ 1Ohm (500Wrms @ 4hms) (T10001BD)
3000Wrms @ 1Ohm (1000Wrms @ 4Ohms) (T30001BD)
(advertised by the company)

The thing is would it be worth the money to get the extra power (1 grand extra) or would it be fine just settling for the less power???

unless you have the 1g extra, and can be botherd (read want 2) spend it on the amp, then no its not needed, 500w rms is heaps for the id max, which is a mad sub imo :D

the 1000W rms, is higher then any practicle driver i have ever seen, lol. so i cud see the point in spending the extra 1000 on focal splits ;)

Do you mean IDMAX12 D4? as it will provide a 2ohm load so you will get somewhere between 500 and 1000watts based on the amp spec provided.

Or about 1500rms with the larger amp.

If you got an IDMAX12 d2 then you could get a 1ohm load and get 100rms fromt he smaller amp.

Yeah i noticed there was a D2 and a D4, which one would be better. Im aiming for a good SQ System.

Both are the same SQ one has dual 4ohm coils the other dyual 2ohm coils, it depends on what amp you have to drive them with as far as power. As impedence lowers on an amp so does dampening factor and control so perhaps pick one that allows you to maintain a 2ohm load rather than a 1ohm load.

Why not go the T20001 right in between. Still an awesome amp.
