Hey all, thought i'd ask this here as fordforums didnt have a clue!

Im looking at replacing the stock speaker setup in the wagon and have taken off the rear trim, but the speakers are giving me some trouble. I undid the three screws on them like you do in the front doors but no luck there, they wouldnt budge. Am i right then in assuming that those rivets holding that steel plate that the speaker sits on has to be undone? Seems like a silly idea - to pop rivet the speakers to the car. Built ford tough i guess

Another question, when taking out the front speaker it was a little corroded so i had to use a little force, which ended up tearing this sort of foam cup or shield that was covering the top half of the back of the speaker (oops!). What exactly is it? Can i leave it out with the new speakers or should i try and glue it back together?

the foam cup/shield is a drip shield to stop water getting into your speaker and doing any damage

yeah they are held in by three little bolt/screw thingos. undo them and then put a flat head screw driver between the speaker and the mounting pod thingo and pry it off.

Yeah it should come out with only three screws off. Takes a bit of force though.

i got an el wagon but i dont know if the speakers are similar but i just got plyiers and pulled the speakers out after taking off the screws for the speakers. i didnt touch the metal braket around it as its still there with replacement speakers..

Yeah they are, one of mine was screwed in the other was missing its screws and just held in by a smear of some sort of glue. A flat screw driver soon sorted that out.

I posted a simalar question in another conversation in the forum but considering this post was for an EF wagon specifically i thought i'd ask here too, so sorry to anyone who has had to read my problem twice.

I drive a 94 EF GLi Wagon and wanna put 6x9's in the rear and was wondering what i'd have to do to get the speacker to go in and stay in, i realise the shape of the speaker and the hole don't match so is there a speaker adapter or something i can use to remedy the issue.
