I heard two differant stories on this, firstly "EF coil pack were unreliable" I don't know if this is true, haven't heard anyone complain about them yet. Secondly Ford brought out the EL as a update of the EF without adding any extra costs to it. So they cut corners to keep the price down.

well i have heard from many a mechanics that say they usually replace coil packs in at least 1 EF a week and atm my camshaft position sensor is gone which as someone said earlier is related to the coil pack
