As long as the exhaust outlet is a certain amount away from the last opening window its ok....and at the diff is fine. Ive been pulled over heaps of times with the exhaust and a few of my mates have there exhausts dropped at the diff and cops havent said anything...... Serious!!! cool, i was a little worried about that

Modified exhaust systems
Modified exhaust systems may be fitted to passenger vehicles provided the following conditions are met : 1. The system is efficient. 2. The exhaust system does not pass closer than 25mm to fuel tanks or the body floor. 3. The system does not foul the body work or limit axle travel. 4. No part of the system projects below the rim lower edge 5. The system terminates behind the last body panel. 6. Systems on the left hand side of the vehicle do not deflect gases directly to the left. 7. The noise level of the modified system must not exceed the noise level of the manufacturer’s original system by a noticeable amount. 8. Side exhaust systems (sometimes called lake pipes) are not permitted. 9. The system must be effectively supported and must be free from cracks and leaks. 10. Where the vehicle is subject to ADR 27A - Emission Control. Extractors may be fitted, but the features of the original manifold must be maintained (i.e.. hot air transfer tube, manifold to air connection). Vehicles subject to unleaded fuel control emissions (ADR 37) must remain as specified by vehicle manufacturer.. 11. Noise level will be the most important factor in assessing any exhaust system. Close attention will be given to this factor during examinations and in the on-road situation. I think ill be ok

5. The system terminates behind the last body panel
Is the bootlid considered a body panel? You might want to atleast have a dummy pipe so they dont get suss when they hear you and then look and notice the missing tail pipe... |

I sure that ute's are OK with dumper pipes but sedans & wagons I think have to exit from the side rear or rear. Also I don't think it would pass a R/W in Vic. I would think fumes from under the car might be the defect notice in Vic  Driving the thing as a daily hacker the noise would piss you off. The charger I had had the thrush side pipes that are illegal now I was for ever burning my lower legs on the pipes when I stepped out of the car .
