Always found abs to be s**t with braking on dirt roads. Could be just the cars ive been in but ive found you need to be able to lock up sometimes to avoid hitting s**t.

u do realise that a locked wheels sliding will make a car take a longer distance to stop than when the abs is working... also abs would allow for steering control when brakign while locked wheels will not id prefer abs and day than no abs

gotta disagree with ya there frank.
i beleive braking without abs on gravel roads is better then having abs. dont ask me how, just thrashed a few cars off road and the ones with abs sucked. I guess new abs might be different but i dunno! |

No abs is actually better on gravel and loose surfaces. The reason is when the wheels lock they dig themselves into the ground, stopping you more effectively then if the wheels simply roll along the ground with the abs modulating the brakes.

bingo no abs is better the built up gravel acts as a wedge under ur tyres
also mate went on advance driving course at kwinana and a stock vx took such and such distance to brake from 60km/hr with abs and it was either the same or fractionly less distance with no abs reason probably being is the rubber burns and gets stickier the reason abs is good is it evenly wears the tyres and it gives you steering while locking it up meaning if ur heading straight for a car u can slowdown while avoiding the car try and do this with no abs and ull keep heading for that car
