Ride: AU XR6 II

Location: .
NSW, Australia

Hello all,

I am in the market for some new insurance for my 2000 AU XR6 II, I got in contact with CGU insurance who quoted me $1645 per year, and that I would be able to fit a set of 18X8 mag wheels to the car, because it came with the factory 16X7 (I think thats what they are).

But my question is have any of you got CGU Inurance and do they allow exhaust modifications?

Mate unless you've been thrown in the slammer several times for speeding / drink driving / car related, then your getting ripped. I was 21 when I purchased my EF XR6 and insurance was only $850.00 per year.
If I were you, I'd shop around...

Dang!
i would kill to only pay $850. I'm with CGU and they charge me $1110 yearly and my car is stock. How much roughly is a good deal with another company for a 19 year old? Sure i shopped around before goin with CGU but i only went with them cos they were the cheapest.

My 2 cents.

It's to do with age.
What I would like to know is why is it that age discrimination is illegal in Australia, unless your an employer (wages) or an insurance company???

its also to do withthe state the car is insured in.. I've got an EL XR6 I personally know the manager for young and cool (mates rates for imediate family only sorry guys) and the absolute best he could do me with no profit margin and all mods disclosed including cam was $639..

what does everyone else pay in different states? set by the insurer.. they are the ones who control it. not much to do with history..

NSW is the omst expensive state to own and insure a car.

$399 a year for the agreed value of $17000. 2001 AU2 XLS ute.
$250 a year for the EF value at $7500
discounted due to two cars, house & home content bundled into one.

would of paid $450 for the AU a year if it was a stand alone insurance. s**t... If we were back in NSW I'll be looking at 3 times that amount.

When i was 18 insured the EF XR6 for 13K (2yrs ago) in the ACT with NRMA was 3900 a year as pay by the month ( round $88 more a year for monthly payments) that was with no, no claim discount so alot better now after 2 years....... on the insurance note does anyone know of any insurance companies that will do any sort of agreed value and determine the premium then regardless of market value.....i know thats a big ask of any company....ive spent close to 40K now on the falcoon and retail worth of that is closer to 47K and thats minus the car.....now with depreciation my car via nrma is now valued at 11700...which is kinda f**k if someone ever hits me and ive had 2 close calls in less than a month....so i dont wanna pay heaps if i dont have too but id rather pay a huge premium than losing a ridiculous amount of money and work...espescially before i get to show it off
