can anyone tell me what the diff ratio is on a 97 EL fairmont ghia 5.0 V8. also if i was to change the ratio what would be best to get better acceleration.

Mine is 3.45:1

I think all the EL Fairmont Ghia's got that ratio.

The only way ford says to find the ratio is to look on the little tag attached to the diff cover plate, top rh bolt.

EL ghia's got the 3.45 diff ratio..

3.45 is generally about the best ratio, you could go 3.7's but be prepared to rev abit higher, and 3.9's can be done, but wouldnt do it if you drive much on the highway
