A 650 Vac Secondary would be more than acceptable for this motor. You could get reco ones from hume Performance in Sydney, they are holley distributors, they may also have new ones. Not sure on price. It will depend on how haw you want to rev it, cam head package etc. But i wouldn't go any bigger than 650

They also run really sweet with a nicely jetted Carter 4 barrel and you can pick them up cheaper than the Holley.

Do a search for carter AFB (aluminium four barrel) the Edelbrock is based on this carby. There is also plenty of info out there on super tuning and modifying Carter carbies, do some surfing and you will find and try ebay. |

600cfm is lil overkill for a 289 IMO, something around 450-500 would be better

I run a 470 four barrel similar to this..
http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=0-90470 On a Weind Excellerator inlet with home ported heads and it went very well...It was in Escort as rallycross car...

If we assuem the motor is relatively hot (100% VE) and runs to 6500rpm, your intake flow would be:
289ci = 0.16724537037037037037037037037037 cuft * 6500 / 2 = 543 cfm Now having a 289 with 100% VE would be a bit tricky esp with stock heads, so I'd go with 85% which gives you the 470 as recomended by EBXR8380

Yep my heads where ported mainly on exhaust..It was built to be snappy as it was in Escort and used as rallycross car.. The last thing you need with rallycross is an engine that hesitates as you set it up comeing into a corner 140 klrs on metal road...
Strange thing with this set up is I won a fuel economy run...V8/ auto c4 and 900 kg....
