Hey all,

Well my auto is rooted and its roughly the same price to rebuild the auto with a high stall, or do a manual conversion.

But I can decide on what as they both have there good and bad points...

The auto would be better for burnouts and drag racing, but a manual is so much more fun to drive and much better for the dyno.

And the I6 im putting together is going to be quick, Big comp, big cam, massive headwork, custom manifolds and so on + a 200 shot of nos.

Now with that in mind I think an auto would be better, But I love driving manuals. Any ideas people?

The car will spend 80% of its time on the street.

what sorta end rwkw figure due to hope to acheive with the above setup as even a trengthened BTR auto may not be able to hold up over a long period of time

Manual for three reasons.
1) Faster than auto in standard to mildly modded applications
2) More reliable and less likely to break than the BTR 4 speed
3) Street Cred

But hey, it's your call...

i wouldnt have thought so. correct me if i am wrong, but the autos with a shift kit will far and away outlast the t5

i would have thought so to.

i was quoted $3000 to rebuild my auto to cope with 700hp, high stally and a shift kit that will and i quote "snap your seats".

a tricked up auto is usually quicker than a manual.

Yeah sure, if your your going to re-build your auto to cope with more grunt. I was thinking more along the lines of standard BTR against standard T5...

t5 for sure, but if your going for big power look at a better or hardened manual box.

Also manuals are better on your break pads and sound better and are more enjoyable to drive :)

He means exhaust note sounds better, and they do!

Thanks heaps guys, I have decided to go the manual with a decent clutch and a short shifter.

Engine should make around 480hp on the gas. So should be interesting!

Ive just finished cleaning up my twin t/bs.......... :twisted:

Do you know for the $3K what work exactly they were going to do...thats a pretty impressive figure if they say that will hold that reliably....

off top of my head, kevlar clutches and bands, upgraded servos, completely rebuilt, all new parts, they strengthen all the gears somehow to. Im not completely sure.
