Thats a relief, so I don't have a actual problem, just a design flaw. So adding a vacuum pump to either supplement the heater controls or to run them independantly would be an ideal fix.

yeah, but is it really that much of a problem. KNock the car back a gear when going up hill, and it'll be fine.

Over the years with vacuum systems on fords and other cars (mercedes etc) I have found that the ONLY thing to really cause this problem is either a leaky one way valve or a heater tap line brokrn or split. I tow heavy loads up long winding hills without having a problem except as stated previously.

A year or 2 ago I did have a leak at the heater tap. Back then the vents would switch to the screen immediately the accelerator was pressed. This time I don't think I have a leak, as the heater vacuum line will hold vacuum overnight, and the problem only occurs when I have a trailer behind me and a steep hill to climb.

Same... Never had any problems... Only time I've ever had any problem is when the one way valve was broken, and Ford replaced it under warranty, after I had the exact same problems. Its possible that testing the valve by normal methods may not tell you if its actually rooted, unless you have a decent vaccum pump. |

Well I guess it wont hurt to replace it. They are only about $6.50
