Is it really recomended to put oil on the thread of your sparkplugs? Never heard of that!
How much for an AU head by the by? |

I had the same problem in my EA. I eventually managed to remove it by working the plug in & out using WD40 as you have done. Looking into the plug hole the thread was damaged slightly, looks like it was crossed threaded. I was lucky that retapping the thread cleaned it up well enough that helicoil was not required. Even managd to change the plugs a couple of times afterwards before selling it.

i didn't get a chance to do this fix or even suss it out more, as i just got home.
yes oil on the threads is a must, just ask any holden dealership what the v6's do if you don't oil the thread of the plug before putting them in.

I've always used neverseaze on plug threads and have never had any problems.

i ended up getting it off.
turns out the thread of the spark plug had a mark on it. that spark plug is now in 2 pieces in the bin. cheers guys.

Oil on the plugs? Try grease, just a little dob and then work that into the thread. I would have thought oil would burn off in about 10 minutes...

well ive never used anything on the threads and ive changed hundreds of sets over the years and never had a problem either im not saying its wrong or wont help but if its reccommended why doesnt the manufacture state this when supplying the product surely they must know?? |
