Hello people just a quick question is there any way of telling if your discs need re machining as one joint told me yes and one told me no....

I machine mine every pad change. If your brakes are shuddering when you apply them then they will either need machining or replacing.
Another way would be to see if there is any run out on them is with a dial indicator. Also if the surface is damaged by the pads being worn out too low then they will definately need machining.

They said they were glazed I get no vibration through either wheel or pedal, I only replaced them with the last pad change and now the fronts are due for a new set..

You can remove glaze with some emery cloth. However as I said I prefer to machine mine each pad change. As I do my own servicing, I remove the rotors and take them to the shop to be machined. Cost is only $20

I dont mind getting them re machined if they need it just worried that the more machining I do to them the smaller they get and the quicker they need replacement...

machining every pad change will extend the life of the rotors as there will be no 'bald spots' created, part lower than rest of the surface. depends on the guy doing it as well, some are lazy and will take a huge chunk off so they don't want to reset the machine.
but generally just machine if there is a pronounced lip, shuddering when braking or metal on metal contact with pad too low.

does anyone know the minium thickness before they should be replaced not machined? i need mine doing not sure though weather i will get away with it or just get some new rotors
