I was wondering what people get out of the I6's when they do highway runs. I did a trip last week and the best i could get out of the tank was 550km and the light came on, some included city driving. I think i could of got about another 30-50k's out of it. The 550 equates to about 12L per 100. I'm not compaining about the fuel use, i have heard that some people get 700+ kms on a highway run, because i was sitting on about 120 on the flate stretches and the rev counter was sitting on about 2500 or just under. I used vortex fuel, next time i will try that BP ultimate.
The best i have got with city use is 450kms and that is good cause i only do short trips. I have an EL XR6 and I know my higher diff would equate for some of the increase in fuel consumption. What is an normal falcon reving at when it is sitting on 100/110 kmh. What have other members got out of their XR6's on a full tank or anybody that is running the 3.45 diff, in manual or auto |

In theory my EF Futura sitting at 110km/h in Economy mode and Cruiuse COntrol can almost make it to Sydney on a full tank of fuel. I think its falls about 80-100km short.

on my i6 at 110km/her i can get 750 out of one tank!
Thats sitting on 8.5L p/100km - i find the fbt has higher diff and sits at a bit higher revs, say 2200-2300 at about 110-120km/hr making it use a bit more fuel - i think i got lik 600ish out of it coming from sydney, thats also leaving sydney during peak hour and seeing what the car could do lol, not too bad - in city all the time tho im lucky go get over 400 with harder driving.

On our cruise to Phillip Island yesterday, the trip computer showed the best consumption of 7.8l/100. I had the cruise control going before we hit traffic and was sitting on 8.9l/100km when we hit the island.
Buy the time I got home it was 9.5l/100. I think these were my best figures for ages, so I was looking about a 650 to 700km tank. My best ever was when I first got the car at 32,000km and got 800km from the tank. And I drive an EL Ghia, so a heaver auto version of what you have. An XR6 will sit just on the 2000rpm mark (2050 exactly I think) at 100km/h. Whereas a stanard I6 sedan will sit on about 1850rpm at 100km/h. |

Thanks for the info guys, around the city the most i have ever got was 450 and i thought that was good but after reading the other thread i might have to do some thinking...because if others are doing 500 easy then i will need to look into a few things. How can you tell if its time to change the o2 sensor? I will have a look this weekend because my average would be 400km/tank which is 17L/100.

Best way to test a HEGO is probably to hook a meter up to it and see what kind of voltages it produces as you cruise around.

Around the city that would be near right.
Driving to and from work, my Ghia gets about 15 to 17l/100, depending on traffic and the route I take. So if I get 450 out of the tank I'm happy... 500, I'm laughing. And this is with a new O2 sensor and water temp sensor. Both were replaced within the last 6 months, not because they were faulty, just for the hell of it. Got slightly better consumption, but picked up a bit more power. Just remember, you got an XR6. Obviously you are gonna put the boot in a little more, and they didnt compromise on economy as much as the standard I6. |

In my old ZL farilane, I was getting 320 from an 80L tank city driving and 360 highway driving, and it is only a 6.
In my ED I am getting 340 per tank of LPG city and 400 per tank, thats with a 55L LPG tank |
