I have currently front power windows and was wondering what would be involed in adding rear power windows and how much it would cost roughly.

has anyone done this before?

i'm assuming you have an EF/EL Futura or XR?

you can do it the genuine, or non genuine way! :P

genuine means swapping the body loom - so the wiring from the dash back to the taillights - then everything becomes plug & play. get the rear electric window regulators, and the rear door looms for the regs, and it'll just plug in.

otherwise, you can hardwire them in - benn (Ugly Igley) has done this, although he now wishes he'd done it the right way lol

i bought an entire EF Fairmont Ghia wreck, so it cost me nothing (after i sold parts to cover my costs) - othewise most wreckers should be able to help you with the necessary parts

there are only four wires to hook up each door....

get a wiring diagram and you will see, to get it to work you need at minimum, +ve and gnd to each door, electric door trims (With switches) and some creative crimping and wire routing

to do it properly either use the looms, or run two more wires and the center switch panel for four switches (instead of only two) so the rear windows can be controlled from the front.

yes you will need electric regulators for both doors. unfortunatly you cant just bolt the motors on the existing ones.

there was a power window kit on ebay is was closely looking at a while back

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... gory=31250

its designed for cars that never have power windows, so its a universal kit, looks kinda cool, even has an installation guide

if you look closely it has some weird flexible arm which comes from the motor and attaches to the window winder stalk, so no need to remove the whole window mechanism

price works out the same, but this maybe easier to fit??
