otherwise castle i have a Alpine MRV-T420 - for $450 plus postage that ages ago (not this amp this one was never used) I used to run 2x Type-S alpine 12" subs bridged and they were 300W RMS each.

Amp stats when bridging the 2x subs to use the 2channel amp as a single channel 340W x 1 RMS [4Ohm Bridged @ 14.4V (0.3% THD)].

for more stats see on that amp see my for sale thread theres a 5channel in there 2 that u could also use as it has a single bridged channel designed for subs plus it will run ya front and rear fill.

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18880

What ohms were the sub coils and were they dual or single coils ?

fair enough.....whould this jaycar one be suitable to run the subs, plus the front and rear speakers. or is it only for one output?? hence just the subs.

nah mate you either need a separate multi channel amp for the front and rear speakers and the mono block (designed speciafically for subs not speakers) otherwise like i mentioned my 5 ch will do both but still not exactly the same a monoblock.

well with the jaycar amp above has the following specifications.

Power / channel @ 4ohm 14.4V: 400WRMS x 1
Power / channel @ 2ohm 14.4V: 700WRMS x 1
Power / channel @ 1ohm 14.4V: 820WRMS x 1

Your sub setup if they are the dual 4ohm coils will if wired together in parrallel to the monoblock allow you to run on either the 4ohm and 1ohm loads depending on wish way u choose to then wire em up.

His sub a SRW3081 is a dual 4 ohm coil 250w RMS set of 12" subs.....so the jaycar one above or whatever is a good deal for the money.....its a low end clarion sub and he doesnt need to pay heaps...it will before fine on any of the above mentioned amps and none mentioned here are extreme amplifiers so theyre all good for the job. Plus u spend abit he wont have to upgrade that to if he ever goes for new sub/s combination in the future
