Hey im looking for a learner legal roadbike under the $4000 mark. Not too fussy but preferably cbr, nsr, fzr, zxr, rs or similar. And preferable close to newcastle.

You have the good laws there, dont bother with a 250, get bigger.

is it something to do with power to weight? down there? you cant hace an RS250 but you could have an XR650 or smoething?

Yea its to do with power to weight, we cant have any of the 2 stroke 250's, but we can have a vfr 400, or xr 650's, just that all teh 600's we can have are trial bikes not road bikes and id prefer a roadbike.

u can buy a 600 Ducati brand spanker on ur L's and P's
all u have to do is mod it a touch and it will run like a full blown weapon. Throttle is just limited so i have been told.considered it a few months ago.. nice lookin machine. but all Ducatis are!!!!!!

here's the voice of reason, if you haven't ridden on the road before, be sensible and get a 250, power is not the be all and end all, a 250 will give you more than enough opportunity to kill yourself, and before you ask, yes I am, or make that was, and want to be again, a rider, I owned a GSX250 and then a GSXR750 2003, lets just say, I'm glad I had the 250 first.
If you want a great first bike look for a good S/H Suzuki Across, great learner bike. don't let vanity kill you.

Some 250s are more powerful than larger capacity, you cant tell me a R65 is a speed machine, it was my mrs first bike, or an old Ttrumpy, makes sense

matethese are a nice bike for a 250cc.. my mate had one of these, and they go alright.. and its in newy, speer point.
