Ride: XG Ute

Location: Melbourne
VIC, Australia

Hey guys i am new to these forums so im not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but here goes...

I have a 93 XG Gli, running duel fuel. This is my first car and aside from this ute all i have worked on mechanically have been a VW Golf and Beetle, as well a 69 Mini. None of those car have been very complicated but now i have a problem with the ute that has got me totally stuck.

The car is not running on either fuel or gas and in fact wont start. I have no spark. Also when the inginition is turned on, a spurt of fuel is sent through, but then when you go to start it nothing happens. Can anyone suggest parts to look at and also how to home test them if any. I have bought a Gregory's manual but i find it all to berwildering.

I am hoping that i can at least do something to get the car running so i can get down the a mechanics to have it looked at properly.

I just pray to god its not some god awful (and elusive) electrical problem that ends up being a $10 repair job, but a $400 labour job coz the bastard was too hard to find.

Thanks for any help

when you checked spark did you check from the distributor or coil? After you check that the main fuses are ok check spark from the coil. that should tell you wether its a coil or distributor probllem
