i was tightening up my cam sprocket after putting the cam back in my car and i forgot to stick a screwdriver through the sprocket to stop it from turning. so when i got to 50 Nm the sprocket tuned a bit whicch also caused teh camshaft pulley to turn, and the timing chain hadn't been retentioned yet.

I am in deep s**t?

from what i was told (when I was having my timing chain issues) the chain can't come off the bottom cogs the guides ensure that so hopefully you should be alright!

i bloody well hope so, but i seem unable to move the chain and crank back together so it is at TDC, does this matter?

Remove the spark plugs, you should then be able to rotate the engine easy.
Check the Harmonic balencer is at TDC then check the cam sprocket is at the timing mark.
All up you should be ok, but it doesn't hurt to check.

You probably already know this, the cam does two revolutions to the crank's one revolution, so the timing mark on the cam sprocket will be in its position two times to the crank's one. Probably already checked this but I didn't find this out until I srarted cranking the engine over by hand.

Turned the crank back to TDC and moved the cam sprocket with it and it all lined up so no harm done.
