Hi all,
Has anyone experimented with any of the Injection kits available? They do advertise dropping air temp by up to 4° C. As well as keep internals clean. The kits are primarily set up for Turbo?Supercharged engines and come with a manifiold pressure operated regulator for the injector pump. How could you go about regulating the pump on a naturally aspirated engine? Anyone? |

im kinda builidn a water injection kit atm
lookign for a old expresso machine.. and a cool nozzle as for activation well was thinking a rpm switch ie above 3500rpm the pump is on and under that pump is off i think it would benifit NA cars as well on the hot days but finding the correct amount of water/alcohol to inject is the hard part as it does take up space in the intake

Water injection will work on days where relative humidity is low. If relative humidity is up around the 90%, then leave it turned off. It won't do anything much.
As for water "taking up room in the manifold" and reducing performance, that's a total load of toss and it's an excuse people use to explain why their car has less power on LPG. In actual fact, filling the intake manifold with fuel will actually INCREASE an engine's performance in certain situations. Water will take up room in the CYLINDER and alter performance for sure, but if the water injection is done properly, the increase in air density you get should be greater than the space the extra water takes up in the cylinder. |

I run water/meth injection on my engine and see decent drops in intake charge, but thats with forced induction, and although there are benefits for NA engines, I don't think its worth the effort. I run a computer controlled system based of manifold pressure, a 200psi pump and fine mist nozzles in the discharge pipe of the blower, its not a cheap setup but works really well.
I don't agree with the above comments, water does take up room in the intake charge, and because it does not obviously combust it should technically reduce power output. This is obviously offset by the ability to increase timing and run leaner AFR's without pinging, but without this added tuning I don't think you will see any power benefit. For NA engines, you can either trigger the water injection on manifold pressure but instead of it starting at some boost pressure, it starts at close to 0kpa which is WOT. You can also trigger it via an rpm switch, this is the way I would run it. |

Is that a Snow Performance kit EDXR8?

No, I went with a custom kit made up through a company called Devils Own Alcohol Injection, over in the US. Overall it had more features including higher pressure pump, seperate MAP sensor, better controller, braided nitrous spec lines etc and was cheaper. Snow make great kits too, I was originaly going to get one of theirs until I found Devils Own. |

im pretty sure pyroay tried something similar on his turbo xr, think it was a mist kit, and from what i remember at 407rwkw he noticed no difference at all, so i doubt it will do a whole lot to an N/A car of 100-160rwkw range!

mist is just a intercooler spray that give the incoming air a cooler charge before it hits the intercooler

water or methonal injection, works every well. it will give u a more consistat intake temp for fine tuning, and reduses pinging therefor u can run more timing therefor make more power. makes the air dence and makes for a clean combustion

I stand corrected.
