Hey lads not a really ford related question, but anyways, a mate has a 1988 saab 9000 turbo totally stock running 4 or 6 pound, he getting a 3inch zorst cat back including high flow cat, is this really gonna do anything 2 the car power wise, stock the car has 152kw at the fly, i just wanna know if hes wasting his time or not, the cars fair crapped out over 300,000kms, my EF smashes it by car lenghts in a race
thanks lads.

wouldnt hurt since it is a turbod but he wouldnt see anyting crazy waybe an extra 5-10kw...he would benefit tho with the extra exhaust space...nice note too...certainly wont help him catch your coon tho

it will do a fair bit because its a turbo. Boost will increase because it has a bigger zorst so you are making extra power in two ways. Also the saab 9000 turbos have the potential to make 188kW at the flywheel by simply holding the peak torque all the way to redline (which isnt hard on a turbo, just use an aftermarket boost controller)

what size is the engine? i thought they were only large 4's, isn't 3" a tad big? maybe 2 1/2" or 2 3/4"?
I'd still do the exhaust, at least then it's done for after the rebuild has been done! |

Isn't 3" too big then? I would of thought 2 1/2" would be the go. 3" seems to be what people fit to turbo 6 cylinders which have a fair bit larger capacity! |

NO, you cant go to big on a turbo. On a N/A you can have problems with scavenging with too big an exhaust |

It won't do as much as some people say because its from the CAt BACK. The dump is still quite a restriction. If the dump was a 3" as well then it would be a worthwhile mod.
