ok here is the situation.

Did an oil change on 2 EL XR6's today.
mine and a mates. used the same oil in each
Fuchs GTO I think its a 10w-20 oil
mine has always had good oil pressure, maybe a touch high.
changed my oil nothing unusual happened, car was happy.
My mates car, dunno what it had in there previously but, we dropped the oil put the new oil in started her up and the oil gauge flicks to almost bang up the top. sitting just on the underside of the orange marker, give is a slight rev and its firmly in the orange, we took 5l out we put 5l in. car looks slightly overfull on the dipstick but then so does mine..

thoughts?
Suggestion?
potential issues if nothing is done?

i would be checking your oil sender/connection on sender/earth to motor

and/or hooking up a manual gauge 8-)

Yep, check the connection in the sender is firm and clean.
If that doesn't fix it, change the sender. Mine was reading real high and a new sender fixed it.
Seeing your oil pressure off the scale is a bit unnerving LOL

mines like that..

somedays it will sit 3/4 the way up.. somedays it will sit in the red quite happily with no noticable side effects. other times it will sit just before the rev give it consistant on and off revs and it will jump up and down in and out fo the red zone.

may i ask why you used a 10/20 oil in an el?
i believe this is far too thin for this engine.
why you have high oil preassure, try the things mentioned above.

will double check that viscosity but have run it plenty of times before with no issues.
