I was thinking today that I need a new bonnet - but I want something different. Was thinking either just plain carbon fiber or BA bulge or maybe buldge like I think it is on the Group A VN Commodore bonnets...
And AWC makes stuff like this, but nothing for Pre-AU, but I guess there's a lot of us with standard EF style bonnets (EF Falcon GLi, Futura, XR6 and XR8, aswell as EL XR6 and XR8), so if there was a group wanting something, e.g. carbon fiber bonnet (even carbon fiber with bulge?) or fiberglass bonnet with BA bulge, or maybe with some other vent or scoop design?, we can probably approach them about making them if we can come up with a largish firm order?
As for rough prices, going by there BA and AU range. Fiberglass with BA bulge $650.00, carbon fiber bulge $990.00 $1320.00 (with clear cotting on it - clear coating seems to cost a fair bit - $330.00...).

excellent, yeah my vote is also for carbon fiber with bulge.
why do they charge so much for clear coating though?

id still wanna get some more quotes before i seriously consider this.

Clear coating i dunno why so much could depend on how many coats they do and the quality of the coat...there are several different types of clear coat or true coat.

id love a Fiberglass bonnet with BA Bulge for my EF Falcon GLi...was thinking of buying a fiberglass bulge and getting it grafted on..but is very expensive.

This could be great. Let me know if anything that I want comes up!

AWC will most likely want a VERY large amount of people to actually put money down on it before doing something like this.
the moulds for these bonnets are very pricey and it takes some time to actually start making money on them.

awc is usually strapped for time, and they will only do projects that they think will sell which is usually AU/BA/BF stuff.

I'd consider it depending on price.

Quote:
At this stage we would not be looking at doing an E-series bonnet as
this market will be getting smaller and smaller as time progresses.

Including labour and materials it comes in at around $20,000 to produce
a good quality bonnet mould. So really we would need to sell AT LEAST
25 bonnets to even break even, let alone make a profit.

Thanks for your enquiry.

the market of e series also is getting larger as since the ba's introduction it has driven second hand e series prices down..redily accesable to a new generation of young people with modest budgets for a cool cruiser willing to spend a lil money on aftermarket accesorys...
