Hey guys,

Have been browsing e-bay and i am tempted to buy a cheap dvd player and lcd screen for my car. I know they're cheap and nasty, but hell for under $400 you have a dvd player and 7" screen in your car!

What do you guys think? Is it worth getting a cheap set up? (I'm not spending big bucks on big brands because i just don't have the $$)

Thanks, Kyron.

personally from what i have been told if ur going to put a dvd player in ur car your better off spending $1500+ to really get ur moneys worth anything cheaper than that its pointless having, also why do you want a in-car-dash dvd player?

depends on the cheap ones. some of them are actually decent as there made with some half decent components. we bought two screens (in dash and roof) and a dvd player for about 600 and have been really happy. we got screens that use Sharp LCD's, and the DVD player has Panasonic chips or some crap like that...

@ op you realise that's two seperate DIN devices - ie. screen is one DIN, and player is another DIN (ie. you need to find somewhere to put both of them).

Yes it is really cheap, and you're going to suffer with image quality. You can get much better, and all-in-one setups for <$1000.

at moment ive decided to go for sweet a** sound quality than being able to watch movies

I have bought from him , and I won't again. The dvd player I got the backlight failed after the waranty period and there is no local supplier to get replacements. I tried a repair but broke the LCD. The screen I got from him also had a similar problem but that has gone away now. Both units I had trouble removing line noise from the 12v supply. I ended up getting a JVC HU for $450. In the long run you may be better buying a named brand.

I do realise that the ones i was looking at require two dins, don't mind that but a single all-in-one would be nicer :) As i'm running subs in my system as well i guess it's not worth the sacrifice of losing sub power and quality. My mate also told me there's a risk of dead pixels on the lcd screens, and i guess the cheaper the brand the more likely it is to have them. Just thought it would be cool to be ale to watch dvds in my car, but for the amount i'm going to be using it don't even think its worth it. Thanks for the replys anyway guys, Kyron.
