Anyone able to suggest any others for the same sort of price? The P1Y is about $150 more, looks nice, but its just a wee bit too much...

Cheers

yeah i love the alpine gear - the CDE-9845 rrp is round the $450 mark and will do everything u want bar DVD otherwise i think alpine have a special one for the model below that the CDE-9843 which is normally round the $370 mark they are doin em for $270 and that still plays MP# CDs just not WMA files.

Pioneer have released their new "8" series units at the moment, you should be able to pick up the "7 series pretty cheap over the next couple of months. the dehp7750mp is similar to the dehp6850mp, its just been superseded. I am waiting for the 7750 to drop in price to upgrade my old 5250 deck.

From what I can tell the 6850 is a better model than the 7750?

Couple of extra features, motorised face, 7 band equilizer instead of three. Other than that they seem to be pretty similar - have a look at these links if you haven't already done so:

or ask me ... imo id go for the 6850 cos of price difference and the models are basically identical, but i must say these units are as reliable as the smell dog s**t produces, it always stinks, and these units always work. we get very few back.

I have the US version of the P1Y (from EDMONTY) and I have found this unit to be pretty bloody good indeed. Not a problem with it at all ... packed with a load of features that even I don't use
