Got a few gouges/scars where balances were placed on the mags, as you can see in the photos. Whats the best way to fix em?

I was thinking very fine sanding then try to match with spraypaint?? Dunno. Will be a bugger to match the paint. Its that pearl finish....

G'day spannerhead. A mate of mine with mark's on his painted/powder coated rims had them repaired , it was through a Franchise type set up. He was very happy with the job. When i speak to him next I'll get the detail's.

Dont sand them as it will take off the protective coating, have them repaired professionally.

s**t do the weights do that? When I had new tyres fitted they put those edge clip weights on instead of those ones that fit inside the rim.

I'm gonna have to get mine off pronto.

Yes. weights on the outside of the rim is a cheap nasty solution indeed! I had them on my old car and had them removed only to find marks worse than those! Luckily i knew someone who did wap overs n basically swapped mine over for new ones for 300, needless to say i did this but now they have closed down i and will need to pay around 600 for this service for my current rims from a few scrapes.

Long story short always use internal balance weights!!

I love having rims with no lip, stops them even trying to convince you to use clip weights :)

Yeah - a series of dumbass tyre places over the years have put weights on the outside of the rim. Not Happy Jan! :x Let it be a lesson to you all who love your rims - specify INSIDE WEIGHTS. Frickin lazy idiots.

Sounds like ill have to get em done prefessionally - on closer inspection, the rims do have a special coating which will be impossible to match.

Just to clarify the termonology for tyre balancing weights:

Clip-ons - The Ugly visible ones that you can see, and yes they will also damage your mag after removal

Stick-ons - A desired balancing weight stuck with powerful double-sided tape on the inside of the rim.

There is no cost difference to the consumer so make sure you ask for the stick-on weights

I got weights on the my rims. You can see them but they are behind the spokes, so they arent very visable.
