2 questions for the price of 1!

Well the main advantage of a powerchip on a stock(ish) engine is its ability to advance the timing to suit higher octane fuel. A friend of mine had one installed on an AUXR6 and it made an impressive difference. However, being an EL - if you are familiar with the basics of your ignition system, you could advance the base timing via the distributor and hence better suit the ignition advance to a higher octane fuel.

Shift kits (electronic i assume?) do nothing more than make the gear shift harder and faster. Fuel consumption will not be affected at all.
