just wondering the noises/sounds etc to be expecting from a dying starter motor :)

when mine was on the way out. the crankingt power was slowing down. kinda like if theres not much power in the battery

ah cool - sounds about right then! the battery is new-ish, and it didn't sound like an electrical drain - so it'll be the starter then! :P

Generally silence! It really depends on what is failing. Is the throw out solenoid not working so the gears are not engaging? Are the Brushes worn and so not making a good electrical contact? Is a bearing failing so the started is tearing itself apart?

Lost of different ways that a starter can fail.

mine used to make crunching noise about a week before it failed completly.

some will click, some will make horrible noises, some will spin slowly, and some won't do anything.
