Spider GT is on 'extended leave' aka banned.
It's still doable-ish, maybe without the dyno.
It would just take

a) Cam manufacturers willing to donate cams
b) someone who can install, shim, and set timing correctly
c) someone with a suitable car and time on their hands

A 'suitable car' IMO would be something with lowish km's, auto (for repeatabilty of results on the strip, although it might mean troubles with the larger cams) and only other mods being extractors, exhaust, stiffer valve springs, vernier cam gear, CAI and an LSD.

It might be achievable to do 2 cams in a weekend, my idea would be to install one of the larger cams in the morning, drive to heathcote/calder/your states dragstrip, do 3 runs, install next cam (something smaller perhaps, less time for ECU to learn) drive around for a couple of hours, head back to strip and give it 3 runs.

There's alot of difficulties with it, the biggest one being time.
If anyone in victoria feels they could give it a try, I'd be up for giving them what support I can (cruise with them to track, document it on video, put cash in for petrol, food, and beers after a hard days testing :D)
I've never taken the rocker cover off an OHC 6 though, so I probably wouldn't be qualified to change cams :D

It's still a wothwhile thing to pursue IMO, it just takes the right person/people to step up.

why was he banned? i would'nt mind trying to do the comparasin, but i have an engine with high k's, but still for the sake of comparing them as a "bolt on"upgrade i'm sure that would be suitable, and wheres the need to rush? i know every week or something they have the drags on, i could whack a cam in drive it for a week mark out of ten for idle, power, torque blah blah blah, and at the end of the week take it down the quarter mile, still time is a factor but i'm sure it'll bring the people closer to what they want to know, and that is what is the best cam?!!

Man i think hes a legend for even contempting the idea its people like this that the forums need. People who do things and experiement with things instead of sitting around and arguing all night. Proof is the final answer to all questions or doubts.
