Hey all.
Ive been having on going cooling problems and have decided to put a new radiator in. My car has some basic mods (cam, headers etc) and gets a little hotter than it used to by nature so i'm wondering what my options are for a higher capacity radiator, and what I should look out for (and pay), I know sfa about radiators. Before you spend all the money on a new radiator have you given your cooling system a flush?

You can get 3 core ones to suit EF-EL on ebay for $260ish. Or dual core for $180.

new standard $200.
new high output v8 $280 from ford. new 3 core $300-best of the lot. or rod clean your current one $100. put some new hoses on while your there, including heater.

Also, perhaps try a lower thermostat.

Ive flushed it and replaced the thermostat to no effect, I also moved the trans cooling to a seperate unit which didnt seem to make any difference to overal temp.
Can anyone explain to me the differences between single/dual/three core radiators?

I had the exact same problems as yourslef.
I replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator, but it didn't do anything. Replaced the radiator with a brand new one for about $170, look exactly the same as the original one i took out. Works a treat, now with the lower thermostat, the car doesn't warm up enough of colder days. The radiator is defiantely worth the money. |

What do yas think of that one (its the only radiator above stock I could find for EF/L on egay. Funky pics btw Gaz, im a little mystified on how you managed to draw 3 bars on one line.

yeh, i amaze myself how good i am at times
i got a new rad at NATRAD, they offered me trade price cause my currant radiator had a crack and they were closing for the day in 5 mins. so i got a new one for 181 from natrad
