Well i finally got around to putting them on, i jacked the car up off all fours took all the old lines off and drained all the fluid out.
put the new lines on and there was some uncalledfor languange when i thought i'd been given the wrong ones as i had the caliper block on the line around the wrong way, but got them all on put some Castrol Super DOT 4 in and proceeded to bleed the brakes with the wifes help (took her ages to figure out how to undo the bleeders) Nah just kidding. got it all back together and took it for a test drive and hey Wouldjalookatdat my pedal still can reach the floor with a heavier foot now so i'm thinking my master cylinder could be fooked. but my ABS kicked in nicely, the downside is i still don't have a firm pedal. Can anyone offer some advice? 94' EF falcon.

maybe ya firewall is flexing used have that problem in my eb if i stood on them hard enough. cos if ya look in the commos thay have a bar going from the master brake cylinder to the top of the shocker to help stop the flex

braided line won't help that much until you get very high fluid temps and the lines start to stretch and bulge. everyday driving doesn't really need them.

if it's going to the floor and you've replaced the brake lines, you either have a crook booster or air in your system.

NEW OIL or brake fluid???
i'd be a bit worried if you put OIL in your brake system. but it does sound like a booster problem.

While the cars off press and hold the brake pedal - it should stay firm. If it slowly starts heading south then your booster is cactus. If it stays firm odds are your master cylinder is finished. I replaced my master cylinder a few months ago when i noticed a trail coming from the master cylinder/brake booster sealing face and the pedal has firmed up..

Hey thanks chich that is very helpful the pedal goes almost to the floor on the first pump but by the 3rd it's very hard and stays hard.
Smoke_rubber, please oh please don't take me for a rice burner that does not know what to put in brake lines as i stated in my first post i replaced it with castrol Super DOT 4. Cheers for all the info ppl i think i'll just go get a new booster and master gear and make sure it's all brand noo.

AARGH it had to happen NOW!! stupid POS!

Another thing did you remove the brake light switch (the one on the master cylinder) after you bled the brakes and pumped the pedal to centralise the proportioning valve. as this can have a lot to do with a nice firm pedal

Yeah GTbob sure did as i remembered you saying about that before, i turned on the engine unclip the plug pumped the brakes about 5 times then put the clip back on and it was still the same.
Also i noticed while i got the missus to pump the brakes i saw that the whole booster was flexing on the firewall, does anyone have any mods they have done to firm it up a bit?
