Hi,

My diff is slowly getting worse and worse. I took it too a very reputable shop about a month ago, and the guy hoisted it up and literally shook my drive shaft (said its the worst one he's ever seen).

He then quoted me $1200 for a diff rebuild and drive shaft balance :(

The clunking between on/off the gas is getting worse and worse, does anyone know a shop that could rebuild it a bit cheeper ? or is it worth looking for a changeover from a wrecker or something ?

PS. it's an EL Fairmont 6, not sure what ratio or anything though.

PPS. Just read the FAQ properly, prices quoted were from like 2004! but I'll call the place in preston tomorrow and see what they say.

supatrick diffs in d'nong, they did a full rebuild on my mates VS V8 ute's diff with new crown and pinion for $700.

I know he has good second hand gears if urs are F**k but they're almost the same diff so I figure roughly the same price (add $100 to install it)
