1. How much should one reasonably pay for a Tranny flush (not just service)? I know the Ford fluid is expensive.
Also, when its flushed is the filter replaced?

2. How much would 1 expect to pay for having an external tranny cooler fitted? (Yes I know it would be cheaper to do it myself, but I don't have that knowhow)

cheers

I've been quoted $110 for the service, (But my mate is going to do that for me, while he does the pink slip)

I got quote $350 for the cooler.

I got a tranny service and complete flush done out in North Richmond at Richmond Auto Transmissions for $155.50 for my v8 trans and a mate got one done for his 6cyl trans for $115.50.

I know it's a bit of a drive but this guy is damn good, many of the guys at work will only take their cars to him, me included.

How much for a filter kit these days... 30 bucks? Probably 50 bucks worth of fluid and an hour's labour, plus 'workshop consumables'... I reckon 160, 170ish is fair for a service/flush... (pretty horrible job to do yourself so money well spent IMO).

Yes casey, the filter will be replaced - probably before the flush... i.e. remove the old one to drain her... put new filter in etc, put a few litres of fluid in, then begin the flush....

No idea on cooler sorry...

Ta. I rang one Guy, (Tranny specialist) and he reckoned a flush wouldn't replace the filter. COuldn't understand that when a service will *shrugs* Too dear anyway lol. He was saying something about needing the Flushing machine, and not many ppl had them. pfft.

Sound like they might be worth a call. Its not that far, (particularly if they do a good job!) cheers

Lol - flushing machine = couple bits of hose, a drain bucket and a drum of trans fluid. Flushing machine probably does it all in a matter of minutes tho...

Any mechanic worth his salt should be able to do it with s**t lying around the workshop. Well, IMO....
