When the cop measured my car he asked me to get my passengers out of the car so they didn't interfere with the measurement Also remember that you must have a minimum of 100mm ground clearance from the lowest spot on the car AND must maintain 2/3 original suspension travel. In the e-series, I'm not sure what is less.

K my EL monty ghia is all stock, had all 5 seats filled and "fully loaded" but rear driver side had a 26 stone body in it and it was under 100mm clearance at the resonator and muffler! so what does that say about stock fairy springs! another thing why doesnt it matter if the ride height was lowered with stock 15" rims compared with say 18" rims with low profiles, im sure it wont lower much with 18's as it would on 15's with a flat tyre.

joolz, thats exactally why the SA police use the eyebrow hieght, as this isn't affected by wheel / tyre choice. IE You can't overinflate your tyre to get over the limit

the car has to have ground clearance of at least 100mm, and every vehicle has its own specifications in regard to bump stop height. Vehicle data sheets issued by the Dept. of transport, to RTA accredited roadworthy stations have these specs listed. A car can be above the minimum ground clearance, but if the suspension travel has been reduced by too much it is also illegal. these specs can be found here. http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au (this website is poorly designed and can be a downright b**ch to use) |
