I'm looking at whacking a set of AU2 front calipers (the twin piston jobbies) into the EB. I know someone around here has done it (EF250KW?), just wondering what the go is.
I've been told I need the AU2 discs, calipers, hub, upright and lower control arm, anything else? Also are the front ABS sensors the same, or will the AU ones work when plugged into the EB? |

I think you'll need to change swaybars as well.
This is a full list to change from AU1 brakes to AU2/3 setup: lower control arms $300 each ouch!!! stub axles $175 each rotors $45 each calipers $75 each sway bar & fittings $100 Um yeah, should be rather similar though.

Yeah I know about the cebco kits, I was under the impression putting AU2 gear on would be cheaper.
Does anyone know the difference in the Kframe E-Series to AU1 and AU2? |

G'day,
If you got hold of a wrecked Au2 for the right price this may be feasable, but the cost is huge. What your proposing involves the whole AU2 front suspension and K frame. Not a small job, nor for the faint of heart, IN the chnage from EL to AU the balljoints were reversed, the upright became a forging and the lower arm a one piece item. The cebco option is one of the best in terms of cost, the alternative is EL GT uprights from Ford, with associated calipers. Cheers, David |

I'm not doing it for wank factor, I'm doing it because AU2 brakes are freaking huge compared to E-Series ones.
I've been told by a few people it can be done without touching the K frame, yet a few other people have told me it's not possible, that's all I'm trying to clear up. If the K frame doesn't have to be changed this would be a quarter of the cost of an EL GT set up or Cebco set up. Sure the discs will be smaller, but who cares. The other advantage is AU offset. |

forget trying to get a AU crossmember into a EB totally different.
but probably possible after all i have fitted a AU IRS into a EB XR8. it would be best just to get something aftermarket AP racing ect. if you want some stopping power. |

Well I'm yet to hear solid evidence I NEED an AU K-Frame to do it.

If you need solid eveidence then go down to your local wrecker and have a look. You will clearly see that the upright is totally different. You can get away with the top part because the upper control arm mount is the same on the body EA-AU. BUT the lower ball joint is totally different. In addition how do you know the upright is not designed with a different amount of castor, etc which will then make your suspension out of spec? I wanted to do this myself a while ago and I do have more than an average mechanical apptitude.
Your best bet would be to cut of the ears off the EA-EL upright the make an adaptor to make something bolt on. The biggest problem is not the rotor size (aftermarket replacement rotors are OK), its the s**t calliper. Look at the amount of flex it has!! Clamp your front brake lines and your peddle will go rock solid. |
